Portobello Market, Harrods (oh and crowds)

Saturday morning we wandered on over to the Portobello Market-classic I know. I didn't realize just how close our place is to it until we got to the end of it. We are in such a prime location. So the Portobello Market was full of fun street vendors, good food and lots of cute shops to explore along the way. But keeping a group of 9 of us together along the way-not so much fun. Everyone wanted to look at different things and I felt like the "mother hen" not wanting anyone to get lost. We tried to stick together as much as possible and at the end all ended up at the "pashmina" scarves place where we bothered the guy so much he finally asked "are you guys done yet?" I finally got to meet up with Brittany & Sam at the market too. I've wanted to see them sooner but just hadn't had the chance to yet, so it was comforting to see old LG friends here in London with me! Here's all the Portobello market girls below-see what I mean now about how hard it must have been to keep everyone together in such a big crowded place??

Speaking of crowds...that night we decided to go check out Harrod's! Not the best idea of a thing to do on a Saturday night. I've been there before but it was outrageous-so many people pushing their way through and we were going to get dinner in there but everything was too expensive and we just couldn't decide. I'm like my Mom in that crowds inside places like that really start to get to me. Portobello Market was fine cuz it was outside and I could actually navigate my way around. But Harrods was just overwhelming and not fun. It was like Vegas in one big store. I will be going back to explore (probably not shop since its WAY expensive) but its fun to look through (not fun when there are SO many people there and you can't even maneuver your way around!) So after being there maybe like 20 minutes we headed out to get some real dinner and decided to come back other night for a real more enjoyable version of Harrods. It will still be overwhelming cuz any store that occupies 5 acres and has over 1 million square feet with a motto of "all things for all people everywhere" is, but my hope is that it will be a little better on a weekday!
